Structures
The Architect of Emotion: An overview of this series of pieces created between 1999 and 2004.
“View over courtyard”, Acrylic, 2000, 60×50.
In the ‘Structures’ series, Delmeire marries his impressionist flair with an architect’s precision, crafting pieces that play with defined colors and shapes to evoke the solitude and introspection of the human experience. These works are reminiscent of his solitary quest for meaning, during his time away from the public eye, reflecting the silent introspection of a man who, once surrounded by the cacophony of a bustling life, found himself in the quiet of his own mind.
“I shared and I chose”, Acrylic, 2001, 120×90.
The series captures the essence of architecture not merely as physical edifices but as emotional constructs, each line and shade a part of the scaffold that holds up the human spirit. The blue, red, and yellow tones that pervade these paintings are Delmeire’s nod to the solitude of the ‘boss’, a role he once played in his own life, commanding his construction crew, later commanding his brush, each stroke a commandment of introspection.
“Geometry II”, Acrylic, 2002, 60×50.
‘Structures’ thus becomes a dialogue between the external and the internal, the seen and the unseen, the built environment and the landscape of the soul. Delmeire’s journey from a man of the earth to a man of the arts is encapsulated in these works, inviting the viewer to explore the structures they have built within themselves, and perhaps, to find solace in the beauty of their own design.
“Red October”, Acrylic, 1999, 80×60.
